Furthermore, the use of soybean oil and sunflower oil is generally acceptable, but the presence of maltodextrin (often derived from wheat or corn) and sugar does not change the verdict. The product is fundamentally derived from pork, making it impermissible for consumption.

Nutritional Value

From a nutritional standpoint, these pork rinds are high in protein but also very high in fat and sodium. A standard serving contains a significant amount of saturated fat due to the nature of fried pork skin. The sugar and maltodextrin in the BBQ seasoning contribute to the carbohydrate count, though it remains a low-carb snack compared to potato chips.
