How CakeID Works

CakeID is a label-analysis site. We use available product label data (ingredients + nutrition facts) to generate summaries, comparisons, and shopping lists. This helps you browse faster — but you should always verify the package, because labels can change and allergens can be present via cross-contact.

What data we use

  • Ingredients (as printed on the package when the data was collected)
  • Nutrition facts (per 100g when available)
  • Brand, product name, and images (when available)

Best-effort “free-from” lists

Some lists (soy-free, dairy-free, etc.) are generated by excluding obvious ingredient terms. These lists are not medical advice and do not replace label verification. If you have an allergy, always look for “Contains” statements and manufacturer advisory statements.

Why some pages are not indexed

If a category or list has too few matching products, we avoid publishing it as an indexable page. This prevents low-value pages and helps search engines focus on helpful hubs.

Editorial & automation

Some text may be automatically generated to summarize labels. We aim to keep it accurate, practical, and clearly labeled. See our editorial policy.
